The Nucleation Assisted Crystallization (NAC) System is a non-salt-based system that uses unique technology to transform hard dissolved minerals into harmless micro-crystals that are relatively insoluble. NAC is a media designed to reduce the negative effects of scaling from hard water without using salt and without removing the healthy minerals from the water. The system is an ideal way to protect expensive equipment from lime scale while cutting maintenance costs.

When the hard water passes though our Up Scale System media beads in the pressure vessel, provide nucleation sites that cause dissolved calcium, magnesium, and bicarbonate to transform into micro-crystals. Once formed and detached from the surface of our Up Scale System media beads, the crystals will not adhere to any other surfaces, even in the case of hot water applications.

When hard water is treated using NAC media, it neutralizes the negative effects of the hard water. The calcium and magnesium in the water combine on the surface of the NAC media beads and are eventually released back into the water in the form of non-soluble micro-crystals. In addition, the formed crystals provide essential minerals to the water and making it the healthiest water available. Above all, it also does not add  any sodium in the water as conventional softeners do.

Redox also helps in removing bacteria, algae, fungi, as well as the prevention of lime scale buildup thanks to its water purifying properties.

How Does KDF 55 Work?

As the copper-zinc formulation intersperses with brass granules in the filter system, the reaction generates a reaction known as redox or oxidative reduction. The basic chemical process creates a tiny electric field as it uses the impurities found within the water. As water is an excellent insulator, electrons flow while either attaching or detaching from the impurities within the water. As a result, these impurities become harmless, making the water safe for use and drinking. The small electric field created by this process also helps eliminate passing microbes in the tap water.

Chloramines are added to water as an alternative to chlorine. They inhibit the formation of carcinogenic trihalomethanes (THMs) caused by the interaction of chlorine with organic plant materials.

How is Catalytic carbon created?

By modifying  the surface structure of activated carbon. It is modified by gas processing at high temperatures to change the electronic structure and create the highest level of catalytic activity on carbon for reducing chloramine and Hydrogen sulfate in water. This added catalytic functionality is much greater than that found in traditional activated carbons. Catalytic carbon is an economical solution to treat high Hydrogen sulfate levels as high as 20 to 30 ppm.
