How to Fix Your Posture and Align Your Spine: A Simple Exercise

Oh my gosh, we’re on our phones again. Can you believe it? It happens to all of us. But did you know that when we’re on our phones, our posture is completely off? Our neck is down, shoulders are hunched, and we’re slouching forward. This misalignment has a bigger impact on our health than we realise.

Our energy is meant to flow through our body, but when we’re in that slouched position, it gets blocked. If you’ve been feeling stressed, overwhelmed, low on energy, or even noticing weight gain, your body’s misalignment could be the culprit. Your brain and body aren’t working together, which makes everything feel out of balance. But don’t worry—we can fix this.

How to Realign Your Spine and Feel Better

Here’s a simple exercise to help you realign your posture and get your brain and body working in harmony again:

  1. Grab a Pencil or Pen – Take a pencil or pen and place it between your shoulder blades.

  2. Pinch the Pencil – Imagine you’re holding that pencil tightly between your shoulder blades. Focus on pinching and contracting your shoulder blades as you hold the pencil in place. You can stand against a wall to make it easier.

  3. Hold and Breathe – Keep holding the pencil and focus on engaging your back muscles. You’ll feel the muscles work, and it might feel a bit tiring at first, but that’s a good sign—it means your muscles are being activated.

  4. Practice Throughout Your Day – The next time you're driving, eating breakfast, or sitting at your desk, remind yourself to think about that pencil. Keep the posture in mind and pinch your shoulder blades together to keep your spine aligned.

This exercise is a simple way to get your posture back on track, and it will help improve your energy and clarity. Over time, as you correct your alignment, you’ll notice a big difference in how you feel.
